Course Description

Jan Davidsz. de Heem is one of the most important 17th-century Dutch still-life painters. Born in Utrecht in 1606, he was a mediator between Dutch and Flemish art. He combines Dutch restraint in composition and coloring with strong Flemish colors and exuberant and lush picture arrangements. In the table presented in Still Life, Breakfast with Champagne Glass and Pipe, a delicately graduated palette of gray-brown and green tints with the yellow accent of a lemon is typical of Dutch painting. Come join this class to paint your interpretation of this exquisite Dutch still life painting from the 17th century.
