Course Description
Are you interested in pursuing a career in Office and Administrative Support? Consider registering to attend an information session about UC Aspire’s upcoming NEXT Careers I: Microsoft Office Specialist Word career training.
In Office and Administrative Support occupations, workers prepare and organize documents, track products, and provide information to the public.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 2 million openings are projected in these occupations each year from 2024-2034. According to Ohio Labor Market Information published by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, “administrative and support services” is the fourth largest employment sector in Hamilton County.
During this information session, participants will learn about the topics covered in UC Aspire's NEXT Careers I: Microsoft Office Specialist Word course, including preparation for the official Microsoft Office Specialist Associate certification exam. This information session will also provide participants with:
- Information about program eligibility requirements,
- Class dates, times, and expectations,
- Available learner supports, including career assistance.
Note: Participants only need to register for ONE information session.
Learner Outcomes
Learners who attend this information session can expect to achieve the following outcomes:
- Understand the topics covered in the course.
- Understand program eligibility requirements, class dates, times, and expectations.
- Understand the support services available to participants who enroll in the course including job readiness, referrals to wraparound services, 1:1 instructor support, and connections with local employers who are hiring.
- Understand the next steps to enroll in the NEXT Careers I: Microsoft Office Specialist Word course, which is tentatively scheduled to start in mid-February and conclude in mid-May.
Who Should Register?
This session is for adults ages 18 and older who are ready to build new skill sets and who are interested in Office and Administrative Support careers. It is ideal for individuals with an intermediate level of digital literacy who are comfortable using desktop/laptop computers and want to improve their knowledge and skills in Microsoft Word to obtain the Microsoft Office Specialist Associate certification in Word 2019.
