CE-25PA1013X - Lipoprotein(a) Undercover: The Cardiovascular Risk Factor Hiding in Plain Sight
The Lipoprotein(a) Undercover: The Cardiovascular Risk Factor Hiding in Plain Sight is a continuing pharmacy education activity that explores the structure, metabolism, and pathophysiologic role of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] as an independent and highly heritable risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The activity reviews current evidence linking elevated Lp(a) to ASCVD and aortic valve disease, discusses guideline-based recommendations for testing and risk thresholds, and outlines practical management strategies to mitigate cardiovascular risk. Emerging Lp(a)-targeted therapies and ongoing clinical trials are also highlighted to prepare clinicians for future treatment options.
