CE-28PA1009X - Biotechnician Assistant Bootcamp
Course Description
The Biotechnician Assistant Bootcamp provides participants with the core knowledge and practical skills required for entry-level biological research and careers in biotechnology, all within a 5-day bootcamp style at the Blue Ash Campus. Training includes aseptic handling of cell cultures, a thermocycler for qPCR, the ChemiDoc system for Western blot imaging, a multimode plate reader, and a fluorescence microscope for live-cell observation. All instruction is provided by experts, each with a Ph.D. in a related field. As part of the program, participants have the opportunity to take the Biotechnology Aptitude and Competency Exam (BACE) at UCBA. Those who pass the BACE will earn a Biotechnician Assistant industry-recognized credential, in the form of a verifiable digital badge, which was developed by Biotility and adopted by the State of Ohio.

Who Should Register?
This bootcamp is designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in biotechnology or biological sciences, including but not limited to:

Prospective participants are highly recommended to have successfully completed a college-level introductory biology laboratory course (e.g., Biology I Laboratory - BIOL1081L), or equivalent (e.g., AP Biology Labs), which includes experience with micropipettes, a compound microscope, a spectrophotometer, and gel electrophoresis, prior to enrolling in the program.
Additional Information
In the laboratory, participants are expected to wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or slippers), a long sleeve shirt, and long pants.Select a section to register
