Course Description

The Biotechnician Assistant Bootcamp provides participants with the core knowledge and practical skills required for entry-level biological research and careers in biotechnology, all within a 5-day bootcamp style at the Blue Ash Campus. Training includes aseptic handling of cell cultures, a thermocycler for qPCR, the ChemiDoc system for Western blot imaging, a multimode plate reader, and a fluorescence microscope for live-cell observation. All instruction is provided by experts, each with a Ph.D. in a related field. As part of the program, participants have the opportunity to take the Biotechnology Aptitude and Competency Exam (BACE) at UCBA. Those who pass the BACE will earn a Biotechnician Assistant industry-recognized credential, in the form of a verifiable digital badge, which was developed by Biotility and adopted by the State of Ohio.
